The Salt Lake dental Laboratory celebrated it’s 100th Anniversary in business this year, 2006. It is one of the oldest continuous businesses in the State of Utah. It is now in it’s third generation of ownership, and in 1989, Charles Comstock, become the sole owner, having worked in all phases of the laboratory for several years. It has been the premier laboratory, serving dentists only, throughout the intermountain west, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada and Colorado.

For the past twenty years, Charles Comstock (Charlie) has experimented with a variety of devices that could be used in the mouth to slow down the rate of food consumption. After many prototypes, he has finally arrived at one device referred to as a “CHARLIE-BITE™ ” that meets the criteria of comfort, effectiveness, and safety.

Charlie, and his long-time friend, E. Keith Lignell, DDS, have formed a new company “The Lean Way LLC” registered in the State of Utah. Lignell’s responsibility will be in the marketing and management of the company.

Lignell served in the Navy, graduated from the University of Utah receiving a B.S. degree, and the University of California, earning a DDS degree. He also served as president of his dental school.

Returning to Utah, he has practiced dentistry for many years in Salt Lake City. He has been active in the Dental Society on a local, state and national level. Most notably, having served as president of the Salt Lake City Dental Association as well as a member of the National board of Dental Examiners, while maintaining a full-time dental practice.

He has also been instrumental in the development of several major office buildings, hotels, and high-rise apartments and condominiums.
