How it functions:

The CHARLIE-BITE™ is a cast chrome-cobalt alloy which is a very hard, sturdy, stable, and tissue friendly material. All the materials used to make the CHARLIE-BITE™ are non-toxic and non-carcinogenic.
It is placed and adjusted in the mouth by a qualified dentist.

The wearer cannot remove the appliance from the mouth and should only be removed by the attending dentist.

After the chewing process, there is no reason why food that is ultimately passed on to the esophagus should have to be any larger than any food chewed without the device. Furthermore, the appliance in place, serves as a constant daily reminder that the object of this whole exercise is to lose weight. This accompanied by a safe regimented program of food intake, and follow-up supervision and recording of progress.

The investment in a CHARLIE-BITE™ is for a lifetime. For some, keeping the weight off, after losing it, is more of a challenge than the initial loss. The CHARLIE-BITE™ remains in your possession and can be reinserted if you start to regain some of the lost weight. One word or caution, if at a later time, you have some extensive dental treatment done, for example, a crown or a bridge, make sure you inform your dentist that you have a CHARLIE-BITE™. Make it available to him so that he can adapt the new restoration to the CHARLIE-BITE™ , that way ensuring that it will continue to fit if needed.

It is highly recommended that the user of the device be very meticulous in his home care procedures. An oral irrigation system, thorough brushing and tissue massage is a must.

During the frequent visits to the dentist for the follow-up and recording of weight-loss, the CHARLIE-BITE™ can be removed and cleaned before reseating.
